The treatment was written by Louis Norton:

Title:
Silent Captive

Narrative:
A 17 year old boy goes into a forest to look for his dead (Not known to the audience) brother, leading him down a dillusional path in his efforts to find him.

Synopsis:
A 17 year old boy, Sam Brandon, has been missing  for 9 months. His younger brother brother Oscar Brandon decides to go into the forest to find out what happened to him. Oscar is tormented by moments where his dead brother talks to him. Oscar has a strange conversation with his brother Sam where Sam tells him not to find him in the forest. Oscar goes to the forest anyway and starts hallucinating badly, he can see and hear something following him and chasing him out of the forest. He manages to find his brother who has been killed by wild dogs.Oscar falls unconcious and wakes up on a baron hillside where the 'forest' was supposed to be, his father finds him.

Genre:
The genre of this short film is going to be a psychological thriller due to the dark tones the forest will give off to the audience, it also has a theme of hallucinations which plays on the protagonist's mind and making him go crazy which would apply to the psychological aspect of the film

Characters:

  • Protagonist, Oscar Brandon: A deeply troubled teenager. He is completely wrapped up in his unrest and is constantly agitated; the loss of his brother hit him hard and he hates that people are trying to move on from his death. He is so struck with torment that he struggles to accept that his brother is dead, and regularly talks to/ sees him in visions that have increasingly enveloped his psyche. When the film starts Oscar is determined to go back to the forest where he and his brother were attacked by a pack of wild dogs and only one of them survived. Part of him hopes Sam is still alive somehow.
  • Sam Brandon: His slightly older brother who was very close to Oscar. He is portrayed only through Oscar's hallucinations. One side of the hallucinations presents Sam as clear-headed and doesn't hold a grudge against Oscar; in fact he dissuades Oscar from going to the forest to look for him and pushes him to move on from the death. In Oscar's head, Sam's other personality is 'trapped' in the forest and hates Oscar for leaving him there. He wants Oscar to pay for what he did and succeeds in making him feel guilty. This side of him is presented as dangerous and possibly violent.
  • The Forest: Ominous… Sinister… Ghoulish…
It gives the impression that something horrid happened here… or will.
  • Concerned Stranger: Notices that Oscar seems distressed in the park and politely checks if he is okay
  • Mr. Brandon: Finds his son Oscar after he escapes from the forest and remarks that the forest was cut down months ago, implying that he imagined the whole scenario.
